Job Deja Vu

Check whether you’ve already applied—before you apply again. And again. And again.

Tired of working through daily LinkedIn and Indeed job alerts, carefully checking repeated matches and worrying that skimming past them could mean missing a great opportunity?

Highlight jobs in a LinkedIn or Indeed alert email, then compare them with your saved application spreadsheet. Quickly review application matches and dates, and exclude jobs you do not want to see again. Job Deja Vu remembers these exclusions between sessions, helping reduce repeated listings and jobs that do not fit so you can focus on new opportunities. You can undo a job exclusion whenever you want.

  • Check your application historyMatch company names and job titles against the records in your selected spreadsheet.
  • Focus on the next opportunitySee unmatched jobs first and previous applications with their recorded dates.
  • Keep your own workflowSelect your existing spreadsheet or create a new Excel application log. Application matching happens locally.
  • Review and organizeCopy selected jobs, review available descriptions, and hide listings you do not want to see again.

A few things to know

Fits your browser.
Uses your records.

What do I need?

Google Chrome version 120 or newer, or an up-to-date desktop version of Microsoft Edge, plus LinkedIn or Indeed job-alert emails. Select an existing application log or create a new Excel spreadsheet in the extension. Supported files include .xlsx, .xlsm, .xls, .csv, and .tsv.

Does it work outside Gmail?

The highlighted-text command is designed for LinkedIn and Indeed alerts in browser-based email services. Gmail also supports checking multiple selected emails at once. Other email services have not yet been verified with real messages, so their formatting may need testing. Desktop email apps such as Outlook for Windows are not supported by the browser extension.

How is the extension installed?

The download includes a Windows setup script and instructions for loading the extension through your browser’s Extensions page. You must explicitly accept the agreement before setup copies the extension to its installation folder. Keep that folder after installation.

Does “Not applied” mean I have never applied?

It means no matching company and job title were found in the spreadsheet you selected. Review differences in wording and keep your application log current.

What happens to my data?

Spreadsheet matching happens locally. Job-description and listing-status checks contact job websites. Browser settings and hidden jobs stay in the browser profile; the extension does not synchronize them between computers.

Which listings are filtered?

All companies and roles are shown by default. Choose your own include or exclude filters for company names, BS/MS/PhD education, contract, postdoc, permanent, internship, or co-op jobs. Missing details stay visible by default; available listing descriptions can improve filtering. You can also hide individual jobs and undo those hides.

Where can I read the license?

Read the Job Deja Vu agreement, third-party notices, and SheetJS license. The same texts are included with the download.
